The confrontation, which took place at a residence on Brennan Street, involved a 20-year-old Stafford man and a 30-year-old man from Boonah. According to the Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch, the two men, who were acquainted with each other, engaged in a physical fight that resulted in the Stafford man allegedly stabbing the Boonah man multiple times in the back and neck.

Police and emergency services responded rapidly to the scene after receiving reports at about 9:54 PM. The victim was urgently transported to the hospital in a serious condition, and a knife was seized at the location by the officers. The assailant fled the scene in a stolen Holden, leading to a series of further alleged crimes, including fuel theft and vehicle-related offenses before his arrest in Wavell Heights shortly after 11:30 PM.

The accused now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder connected to a domestic violence offense, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and stealing, among others. He was hospitalized under police guard and is slated to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 31.
