EU Parliament’s Dynamic Week Ahead

This coming week, from February 2 to February 8, 2026, the European Parliament in Brussels is scheduled to host a series of significant events, including committee meetings, policy briefings, and international guest appearances.

The agenda kicks off with a media briefing on Tuesday about the latest Eurobarometer survey, which explores EU citizens’ perceptions of the future and their expectations from the EU. This survey highlights the role of the EU in the global context and its protective measures for Europeans, among other issues. On the following day, the findings will be presented in detail to accredited journalists.

In legislative developments, the Budgets Committee will discuss amendments to the draft interim report on the EU’s long-term budget for 2028-2034, with a plenary vote set for May. This will establish the Parliament’s negotiating stance on the multiannual financial framework (MFF). Moreover, Cyprus’s ministers will continue to outline their presidency priorities, starting with Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides addressing the Public Health Committee.

Adding to the Parliament’s busy schedule, President Roberta Metsola’s engagements include a townhall discussion in Madrid, a meeting with Nobel laureate Nadia Murad in Brussels, and the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan. Each of these appearances underscores the EU’s active role on both the domestic and international stages.
