Police have apprehended a 14-year-old boy after a harrowing attempted armed robbery incident in Murgon, Queensland, which occurred early on January 26. The young suspect, along with two others who remain unidentified, allegedly invaded a residence on Lamb Street, threatening the occupants with a knife in a bid to steal their car keys.

During the episode, an 84-year-old man was assaulted with a wooden object, resulting in injuries to his head, legs, and arms. He was subsequently hospitalized at Murgon Hospital. Fortunately, a 76-year-old woman involved in the incident was unharmed. The trio of offenders fled the scene, heading north along Watt Street.

The 14-year-old, from Kallangur, faces multiple charges including armed burglary, attempted armed robbery, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He appeared in Murgon Children’s Court on January 27. As investigations continue, local authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist by contacting Policelink or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
