Tense Standoff in Murgon

Police have apprehended a 14-year-old boy after a harrowing attempted armed robbery incident in Murgon, Queensland, which occurred early on January 26. The young suspect, along with two others who remain unidentified, allegedly invaded a residence on Lamb Street, threatening the occupants with a knife in a bid to steal their car keys.

During the episode, an 84-year-old man was assaulted with a wooden object, resulting in injuries to his head, legs, and arms. He was subsequently hospitalized at Murgon Hospital. Fortunately, a 76-year-old woman involved in the incident was unharmed. The trio of offenders fled the scene, heading north along Watt Street.

The 14-year-old, from Kallangur, faces multiple charges including armed burglary, attempted armed robbery, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He appeared in Murgon Children’s Court on January 27.
