In a significant move to bolster innovation across the European Union, Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) announced a new legislative proposal aimed at enhancing EU competitiveness. The announcement was made by Rapporteur René Repasi during a press briefing in Strasbourg. The proposed legal framework, known as the 28th regime, seeks to streamline the process for innovative companies within the EU. Under this new regime, a unique corporate form could be registered within 48 hours and recognized across all EU member states. This initiative is set to be submitted to the Commission in the first quarter of 2026, following a plenary vote scheduled for January 20, 2026. The press conference, hosted in the Daphne Caruana Galizia press conference room and available via Interactio for remote participation, provides a platform for journalists to engage directly with Repasi. The session will include discussions on the implementation stages and further steps post-vote. For those unable to attend in person, the conference will also be streamed live and available on-demand on the Parliament’s Multimedia Centre website. This legislative push represents a strategic effort by the European Parliament to address challenges faced by innovative startups and to foster a more conducive environment for technological advancements and business growth within the Union.
