A 28-year-old Coombabah man has been charged with multiple rape and child sex offences following an investigation into the distribution of child exploitation material, Queensland Police said. The man was arrested in Edens Landing by detectives from the Argos unit, with assistance from POLAIR and the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch. Police charged him with three counts of rape, four counts of indecently dealing with a child under 16, one count of distributing child exploitation material and two counts of committing indecent acts. He was expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on January 7. Police said identifying victim children and removing them from harm were key outcomes of the investigation. Detective Acting Inspector Scott Ballantyne said the arrest demonstrated the Queensland Police Service’s commitment to protecting children and pursuing suspects who use online platforms. He said police and partner agencies continued to share intelligence to identify people involved in online child exploitation.
