In a startling traffic incident, a 57-year-old man from Boondall was charged by local police following a high-speed driving spree on December 30th. The incident, which involved both excessive speeding and drink driving, occurred on Zillmere Road, Boondall.

According to Queensland Police Service (QPS), the man was caught by a speed camera driving a black Alfa Romeo and exceeded the speed limit 11 times within just 17 minutes. In a 60 km/h zone, the vehicle’s speed topped 100 km/h on six occasions, with the highest speed recorded at 110 km/h. Further complicating the case, the driver failed a roadside breath test and later recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.092 percent at Boondall Station.

Facing serious charges, the man was accused of dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected, among other charges. He is slated to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 22, 2026.

The Queensland Police Service has reiterated their commitment to reducing road fatalities and emphasized the importance of avoiding the ‘Fatal Five’ driving behaviors—speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distraction. As road safety is a shared responsibility, the QPS urges drivers to adhere to safe driving practices.
