Two upcoming U.S. spacewalks at the International Space Station (ISS) will be the highlight of early 2026, with NASA providing live coverage for global audiences. These spacewalks, scheduled for January 8 and January 15, are part of Expedition 74’s operations and mark the first two spacewalks of the year.

The first spacewalk, U.S. spacewalk 94, will feature NASA astronauts Mike Fincke and Zena Cardman. The duo will exit the ISS’s Quest airlock to work on the 2A power channel, a critical task aimed at preparing for the installation of new Roll-Out Solar Arrays. These arrays will enhance the station’s power capacity, crucial for its ongoing and safe operation. Notably, this spacewalk will be Cardman’s debut and Fincke’s tenth, the latter tying the record for the most spacewalks by a NASA astronaut.

The second spacewalk, U.S. spacewalk 95, will involve replacing a high-definition camera and installing a navigational aid for visiting spacecraft. Additionally, astronauts will relocate an ammonia servicer jumper among other tasks. These activities are essential for the maintenance and upgrade of the station. The specific astronauts undertaking the second spacewalk will be announced following the completion of the first.

NASA will stream both events live starting early morning from NASA+, Amazon Prime, and their YouTube channel, ensuring space enthusiasts won’t miss a moment of these historic spacewalks. More information about ISS research and operations can be found on NASA’s website.
