The collision occurred shortly before noon on December 26, involving two vehicles in the westbound lanes. Reports from the Queensland Police Service (QPS) indicate that a blue Kia Cerato, which was stationary in the emergency bay, was hit by a white Kia Cerato. The driver of the blue Kia, a man who was outside his vehicle at the time, was struck and severely injured in the incident. The female driver of the white Kia, in her 30s, has been cooperating with the authorities as they continue their investigations. The police are urging anyone who might have captured the incident on dashcam or observed either of the vehicles prior to the collision to come forward.
