Queensland Police have apprehended a 37-year-old man from Varsity Lakes, charging him with multiple offenses after a series of thefts involving personal mobility devices such as e-bikes and e-scooters in the Robina area. The arrest followed a precise operation by the local police, which included executing a search warrant on December 24. Early morning raids at a residence in Varsity Lakes led to the recovery of five e-bikes, two e-scooters, a bicycle, as well as dangerous drugs and related utensils. The operation was part of an investigation stemming from recent thefts at shopping centers within the jurisdiction of the Robina Police Station. The accused faces five counts of possession of suspected stolen property and two counts of stealing. These charges are linked to specific incidents recorded during the past month, including the theft of an e-bike battery on November 30 at a Varsity Lakes railway station, and the theft of an e-bike on December 4 from a shopping center in Burleigh Waters. He is expected to appear before the Coolangatta Magistrates Court in January 2026. Robina Sergeant Alexander Collette used this opportunity to remind the public about securing personal belongings, especially during the holiday season. He emphasized that thieves often exploit unsecured vehicles and homes. Sergeant Collette also reaffirmed the commitment of the Queensland Police to responsive and effective community policing. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or information regarding stolen e-bikes by contacting Policelink or Crime Stoppers. The ongoing investigations welcome contributions from the community to help deter future thefts. Post navigation Brisbane Hit by Vehicle Thefts
