Jared Isaacman was officially sworn in as the 15th administrator of NASA on December 18, 2025, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the United States’ space exploration agency. The ceremony, which took place at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C., featured Isaacman taking the oath of office from District Judge Timothy J. Kelly.

In his new role, Isaacman is set to steer NASA towards further exploration, innovation, and scientific discovery. Upon his inauguration, Isaacman expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to the agency’s mission, emphasizing the importance of pushing the frontiers of human exploration and igniting the orbital economy. “NASA’s mission is as imperative and urgent as ever — to push the boundaries of human exploration, ignite the orbital economy, drive scientific discovery, and innovate for the benefit of all of humanity,” Isaacman stated.

Isaacman, who was nominated by President Donald J. Trump on November 4, 2025, received confirmation from the U.S. Senate on December 17. His background as a pilot, astronaut, entrepreneur, and philanthropist is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the agency. He is also known for his pioneering efforts in commercial spaceflight. In the coming days, Isaacman plans to address the NASA workforce, outlining his vision and objectives, which include ambitious goals such as returning American astronauts to the Moon, establishing a sustained presence on the lunar surface, and eventually supporting human missions to Mars.
