Queensland Police are calling for witnesses to a serious traffic accident that occurred on December 16 on the Bruce Highway, about 50km northwest of Townsville near Rollingstone. The collision involved a white Isuzu Pantech truck and a white and red semi-trailer outside a roadside fruit stall around 11:50 am.

The driver of the Isuzu, a 61-year-old male, sustained severe leg injuries and was subsequently airlifted to Townsville University Hospital, where he is reported to be in a serious but stable condition. Authorities are urging anyone who was in the vicinity and may have dashcam footage, or saw a white vehicle that stopped at the fruit stall during the incident, to come forward.

The Queensland Police emphasize the importance of road safety and remind the public of the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviors that significantly increase the risk of serious accidents: speeding, impaired driving due to alcohol or drugs, not wearing seat belts, driving while fatigued, and being distracted while driving. The Police’s ongoing commitment is to reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries on the roads.
