A holiday event turned into a swift police action when the Queensland Police Mounted Unit arrested a teenager during a festive concert in Brisbane City. This incident underscores the versatile role of the police force during public events.

The incident unfolded on December 2, around 1:30 PM, when police were alerted to a disturbance at a fast-food establishment on Queen Street. A 17-year-old from Greenslopes allegedly involved in an assault had fled the scene. At this time, the Mounted Unit was nearby, contributing to the holiday atmosphere at the Commissioner’s Christmas concert.

Adorned with Christmas-themed gear, horses Stormy, Lance, Karma, and Kokoda were part of a patrol that turned operational upon receiving the call for assistance. Demonstrating agility and speed, the unit tracked down the fleeing teenager to the intersection of Albert and Turbot Streets, resulting in his arrest without further complications. The teenager has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and faced the Brisbane Children’s Court today.

This incident highlights the dual role of the Mounted Unit—maintaining public order while engaging in community events. As the unit prepares for the upcoming year, their commitment to operational readiness and community safety continues to be a priority.
