A teenage driver has been charged following a serious traffic accident in Manunda, Cairns, where a stolen vehicle collided with a power pole, injuring both occupants. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 6, according to the Queensland Police Service (QPS). The crash involved a blue Isuzu ute, reportedly stolen the previous day from Trinity Park. At approximately 2:30 AM, at the intersection of Lennon Street and McCormack Street, the vehicle, carrying two 16-year-old boys from Earlville and White Rock, struck a power pole. Both teens were rushed to Cairns Hospital in serious but stable condition. Authorities have charged the driver, the 16-year-old from Earlville, with multiple offenses, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, and receiving tainted property. He is slated to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court on December 8. QPS is continuing its investigation and has issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
