Early this morning, a dramatic rescue unfolded off the coast of Ayr near Cape Cleveland, where five individuals and a dog were saved from a sinking 120-foot vessel. The rescue operation was conducted by Queensland Government Air (QGAir) Rescue 521 after they were dispatched at around 6:30 AM following a beacon activation. Upon arrival, the aircrew discovered the partly submerged vessel and promptly rescued two 45-year-old women, a 28-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, a 41-year-old man, and a blue heeler puppy. By 7:30 AM, all were safely evacuated and transported back to Townsville, reported in good health despite the ordeal. The Queensland Police Service is currently investigating the cause of the incident. They urge anyone with information to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
