Police in Queensland have charged a 22-year-old Beenleigh man with multiple offenses following the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in Hugh Muntz Park, Beenleigh. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, December 2, 2025, where the victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) swiftly responded to the scene, where the victim was pronounced dead shortly after. In the ongoing investigation, a white 2021 Kia Stonic, reported stolen from Oxenford on November 24, was identified leaving the scene. The stolen vehicle was later intercepted by police using a Tyre Deflation Device on the Jabiru Island Bridge. After a brief pursuit, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby bushland. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a firearm and the arrest of the suspect at approximately 2:15 AM. The Beenleigh man now faces charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon (firearm), possessing explosives (ammunition), and receiving tainted property. He is scheduled for a court appearance at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
