Queensland police have successfully disrupted a statewide drug trafficking operation, resulting in multiple arrests and significant drug seizures. The operation, dubbed “Xray Rile,” targeted the supply and distribution of methylamphetamine and involved money laundering activities primarily in Cairns, with connections stretching from southeast Queensland to Townsville.

The Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) of Far Northern Queensland spearheaded the operation with support from various regional units including MOCS Townsville and Brisbane, Taskforce Maxima, and several Criminal Investigation Branches. The coordinated effort led to the apprehension of four individuals facing a total of 17 charges related to drug trafficking and other offenses.

Authorities executed seven search warrants across Newport, Narangba, Mango Hill, Hervey Bay, and Townsville, uncovering large quantities of methylamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, as well as a Harley Davidson motorcycle and multiple mobile phones. One significant incident involved the interception of a vehicle on the Bruce Highway where police found over 1.7 kilograms of methylamphetamine.

The suspects, whose ages range from 32 to 42, are currently held in custody and are expected to appear in their respective local magistrates’ courts. Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace emphasized the ongoing commitment of Queensland police to combat drug trafficking. He acknowledged the collaborative effort across various police units and vowed to continue these operations to curb the community harm caused by these illegal substances.

Queensland Police encourage the public to report any suspicious activities and have provided multiple channels, including Crime Stoppers and Policelink, to facilitate community involvement in maintaining public safety.
