Police in Beenleigh have arrested a 22-year-old local man following the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old from Bahrs Scrub. The incident occurred late on December 2 at Hugh Muntz Park, prompting an immediate response from emergency services and law enforcement. According to the Queensland Police Service, officers and paramedics discovered the victim around 10:40 p.m., suffering from a chest wound near Morrison Lane. Despite rapid treatment, he was declared deceased shortly after. A crime scene was established by 10:45 p.m. as investigators began piecing together the night’s events. The investigation quickly turned to a stolen white Kia Stonic sedan that was seen leaving the area. Police later deployed a Tyre Deflation Device on Jabiru Island, successfully stopping the vehicle after a brief chase. The suspect abandoned the car at a nearby intersection and attempted to escape on foot, but was apprehended by the Dog Squad hiding underwater among reeds at Saltwater Park. Officers found ammunition on the suspect and recovered a discarded firearm nearby. Authorities have established a secondary crime scene around the abandoned vehicle as investigations continue.
