In a significant operation against far-right terrorism, Europol in collaboration with the Spanish National Police dismantled activities of the extremist group ‘The Base’. The coordinated raids, executed in Madrid and Valencia on November 25, 2025, led to the arrest of three key members and the seizure of weapons and extremist propaganda.

The operation, spearheaded by the General Commissariat of Information of the Spanish National Police with strategic support from Europol’s European Counter Terrorism Centre, deployed around 50 officers. These officers conducted intensive house searches that unearthed military tactical equipment, accelerationist materials, and neo-Nazi paraphernalia.

‘The Base’, added to the EU Terrorist List in July 2024, marks the EU’s first designation of a far-right group as a terrorist entity. Known for its neo-Nazi, accelerationist ideology, the group aims to establish a white supremacist order through violence, operating secretive cells across international borders designed for militant training and executing attacks.

Recent investigations revealed the arrested cell members were highly radicalized, engaged in extensive paramilitary training, and had been actively recruiting through social media. Their preparations and escalating rhetoric suggested imminent threats, prompting the swift action by law enforcement agencies. Europol provided crucial analytical support, enhancing the operation’s effectiveness through intelligence sharing and coordination from their headquarters in The Hague.

This crackdown underscores a growing recognition of the threat posed by far-right movements and the enhanced measures European law enforcement agencies are adopting to counteract extremist activities effectively.
