A devastating traffic accident early on November 19, 2025, has claimed the lives of two individuals, including a young child, and left another critically injured in Rockhampton, Queensland. The incident involved two trucks colliding on the Bruce Highway near Canoona, leading to significant disruptions and an ongoing police investigation. According to the Queensland Police Service (QPS), a 21-year-old woman and a two-year-old girl, both from Koongal, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner truck, a 24-year-old man also from Koongal, was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz truck, was operated by a 24-year-old man from Toongabbie, NSW, who sustained minor injuries. The Bruce Highway was closed for the majority of the day as the Forensic Crash Unit examined the scene.
