In a significant operation named Xray Crosscut, Queensland police have charged 21 individuals with over 97 criminal offenses in just the first two weeks. This initiative, which began in October, aims to lower the property crime rates in Rockhampton, significantly impacting the Capricornia District. The operation has seen a variety of crimes being addressed, including burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, wilful damage, and robbery. Notably, a 46-year-old man faces 20 charges ranging from entering a dwelling to commit crimes, receiving tainted property, to fraud. He is currently held in custody, with a court appearance scheduled for November 26 at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court. Another case involves a 28-year-old man charged with 12 offenses, including fraud and trespassing, who will also reappear in court on November 28. These arrests are part of a broader effort by local authorities to combat high-risk property crimes effectively. Superintendent Mark Burgess emphasized the ongoing commitment of the police to identify, disrupt, and deter criminal activities while ensuring the safety of the community. He encouraged the public to actively report any suspicious activities to help maintain security. The Queensland police provide several avenues for reporting, including Policelink and Crime Stoppers, ensuring that community members can easily communicate with law enforcement officials. This crackdown reflects a robust approach by the Capricornia District police, striving to ensure a safer environment for both residents and businesses in Rockhampton.
