Police have apprehended a 35-year-old man on charges of arson after a fire severely damaged a business in Ashmore, as reported by the Queensland Police Service. The incident, which took place on November 5, led to the evacuation of nearby businesses but fortunately resulted in no serious injuries apart from one woman treated for smoke inhalation.

The accused, a resident of Biggera Waters, allegedly visited the location on Commercial Drive around 1:50 PM, where he used an accelerant to set a donation bin ablaze before fleeing the scene. The quick response from emergency services prevented further damage and ensured public safety. A 35-year-old woman from Logan Village, affected by the smoke, was immediately attended to by paramedics and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Scheduled for a court appearance on November 6 at the Southport Magistrates Court, the suspect faces serious legal repercussions for his actions.
