In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Tanja Fajon, Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, on October 30, 2025. During the discussions, President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude towards Slovenia for its support, particularly in humanitarian projects and military backing amidst the ongoing conflict. He highlighted the importance of Slovenia’s participation in the PURL initiative, which primarily aims at bolstering Ukraine’s air defense systems. “You began your visit in the regions of Ukraine, not directly in the capital. This support is very important, and we greatly appreciate it,” Zelenskyy remarked. Fajon reiterated Slovenia’s commitment to providing military and humanitarian assistance and stressed the importance of continued collaboration. The talks also covered the SAFE mechanism, focusing on practical cooperation and participation in joint defense projects.
