A fatal traffic accident has taken place this afternoon on the D’Aguilar Highway near Royston, resulting in the death of a motorbike rider. The Queensland Police Service’s Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the incident.

At approximately 2 PM, a 27-year-old man from Moffat Beach was riding his motorbike eastward when he collided with a trailer towed by a 4WD, also heading east, close to the Mary Smokes Creek Road intersection. The motorcyclist tragically died at the scene. The 33-year-old driver of the 4WD, from Beerwah, was unharmed.

The Queensland Police are emphasizing the importance of road safety and are reminding drivers to avoid the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviors: speeding, impaired driving, not using seatbelts, driving while fatigued, and getting distracted while driving. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries on Queensland roads.
