In a significant meeting in Kyiv on October 13, 2025, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to discuss ongoing support for Ukrainian children affected by conflict. The meeting highlighted the European Union’s recent move to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, an initiative focused on the recovery and rights of children displaced or affected by the ongoing conflict with Russia. Zelenska expressed gratitude towards the European Union for their unified stance and vital support in addressing the complex needs of these children. She emphasized the importance of not only returning children who were abducted but also defending the rights of all Ukrainian youth. The coalition aims to provide long-term psychological and social adaptation support, which includes access to education, healthcare, and social services. The discussion also touched upon several humanitarian projects presented by Ukraine at the Summit of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, held alongside the UN General Assembly. These projects include initiatives like “Social Housing for Youth,” “Supported Living” programs for disabled young adults, and “Room for Childhood,” which involves building homes for large foster families. Additionally, the provision of “Minivans for Large Foster Families” and “Psychological Rehabilitation Camps” are part of the efforts to aid mobility and mental health recovery. Zelenska concluded by acknowledging the EU’s contributions to developing school nutrition programs in Ukraine and expressed hope for further cooperation in enhancing school infrastructure and safety measures. This partnership underscores a significant step forward in international efforts to safeguard and support the future of Ukraine’s younger generations. Post navigation Zelenskyy’s Busy Diplomatic Week
