Police in Queensland have successfully apprehended two men linked to the theft of copper wiring from an electrical light box on the Logan Motorway at Ellen Grove. The incident, which occurred late on October 7, 2025, led to a temporary power outage affecting the surrounding area. The suspects were caught in the act around 10:30 p.m. after being spotted on surveillance cameras using tools to sever wire cables from the box located in the westbound lanes near the Centenary Motorway. Upon police arrival, one of the men was found lying prone with his hands inside the box, while his accomplice attempted to flee on foot. The second man was captured shortly thereafter with the assistance of Police Dog Crunch. Authorities recovered several tools and a tool bag at the scene. The arrested individuals, a 45-year-old man from Inala and a 43-year-old man from Redbank Plains, face multiple charges including wilful damage, stealing, and unlawful interference with the supply of electricity. They are scheduled to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court in early November. Copper theft is a significant concern for community safety and the operational integrity of critical infrastructure sectors such as telecommunications, power, and transportation. The Queensland Police Service is intensifying efforts to combat these crimes through partnerships with local government representatives, energy providers, and the transportation and telecommunications industries. The public is urged to report suspicious activities and to stay vigilant to help mitigate the risks associated with such thefts. Post navigation Major Drug Bust in Darling Heights
