In a decisive move to bolster European defense, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is prepared to share its expertise in detecting and neutralizing attack drones with international partners. Speaking at the 7th European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, Zelenskyy highlighted the urgent need for a collaborative air defense strategy in response to recent drone incidents across Europe, which he attributed to Russian aggression. The Ukrainian leader stated that experienced personnel have already begun their mission in Denmark, marking the initial step towards establishing a comprehensive “Drone Wall” to shield Europe from aerial threats. Zelenskyy emphasized the necessity of a swift and robust response to Russian airspace violations and advocated for increased international cooperation through the PURL initiative, reinforcing ties between Europe and the United States. Zelenskyy further urged the European Union to expedite the adoption of its 19th sanctions package against Russia, targeting the nation’s oil trade infrastructure, which he claimed sustains Russia’s military capabilities. He called for sanctions on Russian oil terminals, shadow fleet vessels, and urged European countries to heed former President Trump’s call to cease purchasing Russian oil, suggesting that energy needs could be met by the United States and other partners. The President also reiterated the importance of security guarantees for Ukraine and expressed support for Moldova and the Western Balkans’ EU membership aspirations. He congratulated Moldovan President Maia Sandu on her electoral victory and stressed the significance of continued progress in Ukraine’s EU accession process.
