In an effort to enhance public safety during school holidays, North Brisbane police have intensified their focus on e-bike and unregistered electric motorbike offences. This initiative, part of the ongoing Operation Fantale and Operation Xray Stamp, targets illegal activities along the Kedron Brooke Bikeway and in the inner city areas, such as Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley.

The proactive patrols have resulted in 15 individuals facing 26 charges, including possession of a knife, dangerous drugs, and drug utensils. These operations aim to curb the illegal and dangerous use of modified e-bikes and unregistered electric motorbikes through both visible and covert patrols. Additionally, police are conducting educational talks at local schools to engage parents and raise awareness about the importance of compliance with safety regulations.

Recent incidents highlight the ongoing concerns, with two 14-year-old boys facing legal action for dangerous driving on unregistered electric motorcycles. Superintendent Simon Tayler emphasized the need for device users and parents to heed safety warnings to prevent serious incidents. Police are committed to enforcing the law, with potential consequences including fines, bike seizures, and court appearances for offenders.

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police. Authorities continue to stress that public spaces should be safe for everyone to enjoy, and the reckless use of personal mobility devices will not be tolerated.
