Arson Arrest in Blackswamp Fires

Police have charged a 27-year-old man in connection with a series of vegetation fires in Blackswamp, near Chinchilla, Queensland. The fires, which occurred on October 1st during a total fire ban, were reportedly set deliberately in a grassy area along Blackswamp Road.

Authorities extinguished the six fires without any reported injuries. Following a swift investigation, police apprehended the suspect, a resident of Wandoan, as he was leaving the scene. He faces multiple charges, including six counts of setting fire to vegetation and one count of possessing dangerous drugs.
