Queensland Police have intensified efforts to curb anti-social behavior among youth on the Sunshine Coast, as part of their ongoing Operation Xray Sorcerer. Since the operation commenced on September 6, police have confiscated four weapons through heightened patrols and wanding operations. The initiative has seen increased police presence across public spaces during the September school holidays, with a focus on youth aged 11 to 17. High-visibility patrols, weapon searches, and bail compliance checks have been key components of the strategy. Notable incidents include the arrest of a 42-year-old man from Golden Beach found with drugs and a knife, and a 27-year-old Mooloolaba woman charged with drug possession. Both individuals are scheduled to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court. Additionally, two teenage boys have faced charges for carrying knives, dealt with under the Youth Justice Act. Detective Inspector Chris Toohey commented on the operation’s outcomes, emphasizing the importance of removing weapons from public spaces and collaborating with families to prevent future offenses. He assured the community that police patrols will remain vigilant throughout the holiday period. Post navigation Trump Signals Shift on Ukraine Vigils Shine Light on Fallen Officers
