In a significant diplomatic effort, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has engaged with multiple world leaders at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. These meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations and garnering support against Russian aggression.

On September 24, 2025, President Zelenskyy met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss the steps necessary to achieve peace, emphasizing Ukraine’s readiness for unconditional leader-level dialogues. Zelenskyy also engaged in discussions with President João Lourenço of Angola, where he expressed gratitude for Angola’s support and explored avenues for deepening bilateral ties.

A meeting with President José Raúl Mulino of Panama highlighted the importance of imposing sanctions on Russia’s shadow fleet amid the ongoing conflict. Zelenskyy also conferred with Brazilian President Lula da Silva on strategies to secure lasting peace for Ukraine.

In addition to these diplomatic talks, the Fifth Summit of the International Crimea Platform took place on the global stage, marking a historic first at the UN General Assembly. This summit served to reinforce international solidarity and commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity against Russian incursions.
