Ukraine Calls for UN Action

In a powerful address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged member nations to exert significant pressure on Russia to halt its ongoing war and arms race, which he claims threaten global security. Speaking on September 24, 2025, Zelenskyy highlighted the urgent need for international cooperation to prevent a potential catastrophe.

President Zelenskyy criticized international institutions for their perceived ineffectiveness in stopping conflicts, citing ongoing wars in regions like Sudan and Palestine as evidence. He argued for the establishment of global rules governing the use of artificial intelligence in weaponry, emphasizing the parallel urgency to nuclear non-proliferation. Ukraine’s development of drones, which have successfully targeted Russian military assets, was presented as a strategic necessity rather than a choice.
