Detectives from the Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch have apprehended a 42-year-old man from Frenchville in connection with a series of serious offenses in Queensland. The incidents, which occurred in Manunda and near Livingstone, have led to multiple charges against the suspect and his 47-year-old female accomplice from Cooktown. The first incident took place on September 9, when the duo allegedly shot a 45-year-old man in the leg at a Chester Court hotel in Manunda. Subsequently, on September 16, a traffic crash involving a Holden utility and caravan on Kunwarara Road, north of Rockhampton, led police to discover firearms and ammunition in the vehicle. Following the crash, the female suspect fled but was soon captured in nearby bushland. She faces charges including acts intended to maim, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of weapons. She remains in custody, with a court appearance scheduled for November 12. The male suspect was located and detained in bushland near the crash site on the night of September 17. He faces similar charges and is expected to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today. Police have extended thanks to the public for their assistance in the investigation and continue to encourage the reporting of any related information.
