Brisbane’s Riverfire 2025 event concluded successfully with minimal disruptions, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) reported. The annual event saw a well-behaved crowd, resulting in only 11 arrests for minor offences and four move-on directions.

The QPS credited the effective planning and execution by the Brisbane Major Events Planning Unit (MEPU) for the smooth operations. The MEPU, using insights from previous events and decades of experience, focused on maintaining public safety, managing closures, and handling large crowds. The State Police Operations Centre (SPOC) was activated to oversee the event’s operations.

Police presence was bolstered by various units, including Water Police, Highway Patrol, and the Tactical Crime Squad. The Queensland Police Pipes and Drums band also entertained spectators from a Water Police vessel, adding to the event’s festive atmosphere.

Acting Superintendent Stewart Day, Riverfire Operations Commander, expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome, noting the orderly behavior of attendees and the seamless management of infrastructure closures and reopenings.
