In a tragic incident early this morning, a 19-year-old man from Ningi lost his life following a single-vehicle crash in Kandanga, near Gympie. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) reported the accident occurred just after 6 am when the campervan he was driving veered off Amamoor Road and ended up in a ditch.

Emergency services were quick to respond but, unfortunately, the young man—who was the sole occupant of the vehicle—was declared dead at the scene. The QPS Forensic Crash Unit is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Queensland Police is actively encouraging road users to stay vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such tragedies. Authorities continue to stress the importance of avoiding the ‘Fatal Five’—speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distraction—behaviors that are major contributors to road accidents.

With road safety being a shared responsibility, the QPS urges the community to remain aware and proactive in ensuring their safety and the safety of others on Queensland’s roads.
