In a tragic incident at Chatsworth, Queensland, two men lost their lives following a multi-vehicle crash involving a stolen car. The crash occurred yesterday afternoon on Gympie Curra Road, around 3 PM. Emergency services were swiftly on the scene, but the drivers of two of the vehicles involved did not survive. Initial investigations by the Queensland Police Service indicate that a stolen black MG sedan was overtaking other vehicles at high speed when it collided with a black Toyota sedan and then a silver Holden sedan. The collision caused both the MG and the Holden to overturn, resulting in the Holden catching fire. The driver of the stolen MG, a 20-year-old man from Kilkivan, and the driver of the Holden, a 50-year-old man from The Palms, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the crash, and authorities are appealing to the public for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to assist in the investigation. Those with information are urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers. The Queensland Police Service continues to emphasize the importance of road safety, urging drivers to avoid the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviors—speeding, driving under the influence, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distraction—to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
