As the European Parliament gears up for a busy week, key events and discussions are set to take center stage, reflecting the institution’s strategic priorities and engagement with global partners. From trade talks with the US to the release of the latest Eurobarometer survey, the agenda is packed with significant activities.

On Wednesday, the spotlight will be on EU-US trade relations, as Bernd Lange, Chair of the International Trade Committee, addresses the media in a press conference titled “EU-US Trade: what’s next?” The discussion will focus on implementing the political framework agreement and the Parliament’s role in this process. Later that day, the committee will engage with Sabine Weyand, Director-General of DG Trade at the European Commission, to further explore the issue.

A key highlight of the week is the release of the 2025 Eurobarometer survey. The survey aims to shed light on EU citizens’ priorities and expectations, examining the EU’s role in the global context, its long-term budget, and citizens’ views on EU membership. An under-embargo briefing for accredited journalists will be held on Tuesday to present the main findings.

Additionally, the Danish Presidency’s priorities will be discussed by the Environment, Climate, and Food Safety Committee with Denmark’s Environment Minister and Green Transition Minister on Thursday. This meeting will focus on environmental and climate policies under Denmark’s leadership in the Council.

As the political groups prepare for the upcoming plenary session in Strasbourg from September 8-11, significant topics like Ukraine’s EU accession, EU agriculture, and the carbon border adjustment mechanism will be debated. Commission President von der Leyen’s State of the Union speech is anticipated to be a highlight, followed by a debate with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
