Tragic Pedestrian Fatality at Mermaid Waters

In a tragic incident at Mermaid Waters, a 70-year-old local man has died following a collision with a vehicle on Markeri Street on the afternoon of August 26. The pedestrian was struck by a Subaru Liberty at the intersection with Rio Vista Boulevard and succumbed to his injuries in the hospital the next morning.

The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man, and his 34-year-old female passenger, both residents of Mermaid Waters, were unharmed in the crash. Queensland Police’s Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident and has urged any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward.
