President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Canada Mark made significant strides in strengthening their bilateral relations during a meeting held on Ukraine’s Independence Day. The gathering resulted in the signing of several pivotal agreements aimed at enhancing security cooperation and mutual administrative assistance.

The leaders signed an Action Plan for Security Cooperation and an Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters, underscoring the countries’ commitment to mutual support. Additionally, a Letter of Intent was signed to boost drone production, a key priority for Ukraine’s defense efforts against ongoing hostilities.

Discussions extended to diplomatic strategies, with Zelenskyy emphasizing the need to intensify pressure on Russia to end the conflict with dignity and guaranteed security. Canada, a vital member of the Coalition of the Willing, reiterated its support for Ukraine and announced an additional $500 million to aid Ukraine’s defense, particularly focusing on drone production.

Energy cooperation was another focal point, with Ukraine inviting Canada to join large-scale energy projects that leverage Ukraine’s port infrastructure and storage facilities for Canadian gas. The meeting concluded with a commitment to synchronize sanctions against Russia and collaborate on humanitarian efforts, including the return of Ukrainian children abducted to Russia.
