In a significant move toward strengthening bilateral relations, Ukraine and the European Union have agreed to enhance their cooperation in combating corruption, reforming the judiciary, and developing legal institutions. This decision followed a meeting held on August 21, 2025, between Ukrainian officials and the EU’s representative to Ukraine.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Iryna Mudra, and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka, engaged in discussions with Gediminas Navickas, the Chargé d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to Ukraine. The meeting highlighted the EU’s consistent support for Ukraine’s European integration path and focused on expanding collaborative efforts through consultations and joint projects.

Key topics included the implementation of judicial reforms and the creation of sustainable legal institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on finalizing the establishment of a Special Tribunal and a Claims Commission, which will address claims from individuals affected by Russian aggression.

Gediminas Navickas reiterated the EU’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s reform initiatives, acknowledging the progress made and pledging continued solidarity. Following the discussions, Iryna Mudra briefed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the outcomes, marking a pivotal step in Ukraine’s ongoing reform agenda.
