In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, the Rural Crime and Stock Crime Squad, alongside the State Flying Squad and other specialized units, executed 25 search warrants, resulting in 69 charges against 20 individuals in the greater Longreach area. The targeted operation, named “Operation Xray Furlow,” was initiated in September 2024 to combat drug offenses in the Central West Patrol Group. During the operation conducted between August 13 and August 15, law enforcement teams, including the Longreach Criminal Investigation Branch, Capricornia Tactical Crime Squad, and Central Region Dog Squad, focused on trafficking, supplying, and possessing dangerous drugs, and related offenses. Among those charged were a 35-year-old Longreach man and a 33-year-old Aramac man, both of whom are scheduled to appear in court on September 16. Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Elliot emphasized the detrimental impact of drug-related crimes on rural communities, acknowledging the community’s role in reporting such offenses. He urged the public to maintain their cooperation with police efforts to ensure regional safety. Post navigation Suspicious Fire Sparks Investigation Major Bust in Motorcycle Gang Operation
