First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska participated in the annual educational conference “Serpneva-2025,” held on August 21, 2025. The event, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science, also featured Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi. The conference aimed to address the transformation of education in Ukraine amidst ongoing challenges. In her speech, Zelenska emphasized the critical role of educators in restoring normalcy to children’s lives, particularly during the current turbulent times. She highlighted various support programs she oversees, such as barrier-free accessibility and the School Nutrition Reform. She also discussed the “How Are You?” mental health initiative, underscoring education as a priority for the Olena Zelenska Foundation. Zelenska revealed plans to enhance educational infrastructure, including setting up classroom shelters in secure areas and providing digital tools for distance learning. The First Lady also mentioned a significant finding from the Future Index research, noting that 82 percent of Ukrainian adolescents remain hopeful about their future despite the adversities they face. The conference, attended by over 500 participants, brought together educators, officials, and representatives of international and civic organizations. Discussions focused on adapting education to current challenges, ensuring accessibility, and fostering opportunities for young people to thrive in a transforming world.
