A 24-year-old man from Kelso has been charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Cardwell last month. The incident took place on July 26 at a rest stop along the Bruce Highway, involving a white Hyundai Accent. According to police reports, four individuals allegedly approached the vehicle around 6:35 pm, demanding the driver surrender his keys, wallet, and phone. It is further alleged that one of the individuals threatened the driver with a firearm, forcing him to exit the vehicle. The suspect was apprehended on August 14 at a residence in South Johnstone. Authorities have charged him with two counts of robbery whilst armed, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and supplying dangerous drugs. He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Tully Magistrates Court on October 13.
