Detectives from Queensland’s Argos unit have arrested a 35-year-old man in Browns Plains on charges related to alleged child sex offences. The arrest is part of Operation Xray Beau, a targeted effort to combat online child exploitation. The man, from Buccan, allegedly used a social media platform to attempt to procure a child for sexual acts. Unknown to him, the ‘child’ was an undercover operative from Argos, a specialized branch of the Queensland Police Service focused on child protection. A search warrant executed on August 12 led to the seizure of electronic devices from the man’s residence, which are now under further examination. Charged with using the internet to procure a child under 16, the accused was released on strict bail conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 10. Detective Acting Inspector Cameron Burke emphasized the importance of parental vigilance in monitoring children’s online activities, noting that such arrests underscore the ongoing threat posed by online predators. Argos investigators continue to prioritize child safety, utilizing all available resources to identify and apprehend offenders involved in the sexual exploitation of children. Authorities encourage the public to report any suspicious or inappropriate online behavior towards children immediately.
