First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, participated in the “Business Without Barriers” community meeting to discuss the implementation of innovative barrier-free projects. The meeting, held on August 14, 2025, brought together key figures including Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba and the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshnyy, among others. The “Business Without Barriers” initiative, a part of Zelenska’s broader “Without Barriers” campaign, aims to foster social change and inclusivity across various sectors. Participants shared experiences on implementing barrier-free solutions, with DTEK highlighting workplace adaptations for employees with disabilities and Ukrzaliznytsia showcasing their inclusive railcar initiative. The retail chain “Silpo” also presented their project focused on accessible self-checkout systems. A significant part of the meeting addressed the creation of the guide “Barrier-Free in Financial Services: A Practical Handbook.” Developed with the support of major banks and NGOs, the guide aims to improve service accessibility for people with special needs, including those with visual impairments and facial injuries. This guide will set the groundwork for an upcoming resolution by the National Bank of Ukraine. The event also featured a panel discussion on the “Movement Without Barriers” program, which focuses on adapting public infrastructure for greater accessibility. Zelenska emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach to barrier-free development, drawing parallels to Japan’s innovative solutions post-World War II. She underscored that a people-centered approach not only enhances societal inclusivity but also drives long-term success in both defense and business.
