Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of its groundbreaking Micro RGB technology, marking a significant advancement in TV display innovation. The new 115-inch display, unveiled on August 12, 2025, is the first to feature a micro-scale RGB LED backlight, setting a new standard for color accuracy, contrast, and immersive viewing in the ultra-premium TV market.

The Micro RGB technology leverages Samsung’s proprietary architecture, which incorporates individually controlled red, green, and blue micro LEDs, each measuring less than 100 micrometers. This precision enables unparalleled control over color and contrast, offering consumers an unprecedented viewing experience. “Micro RGB achieves unprecedented precision in control, raising the bar for color accuracy and contrast,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business.

Powered by Samsung’s Micro RGB AI engine, the display optimizes picture and sound in real time, enhancing colors across all content for a vivid experience. The technology is designed to meet the international BT.2020 standard for color accuracy and has received ‘Micro RGB Precision Color’ certification from the German VDE institute.

The Micro RGB display also features Glare Free technology to minimize reflections and Samsung Vision AI for a smarter, more personalized viewing experience. Security is bolstered by Samsung Knox, and the device benefits from a 7-year free Tizen OS Upgrade program, ensuring long-term software support. Following its debut in Korea, the Micro RGB is set to launch in the U.S., with global expansion plans underway.
