In a recent operation aimed at curbing late-night property crime and vehicle theft, Queensland Police have charged five individuals, including four teenagers, in the North Brisbane District. Dubbed Operation Grimlock, the initiative successfully intercepted a stolen vehicle leading to multiple arrests. The incident unfolded on the night of August 7, when police identified a stolen BMW traversing Brisbane’s north. A tactical response involving a tyre deflation device was executed in Stafford, forcing the vehicle to a halt at Hodgkinson Street and Unwin Street in Chermside. The occupants attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended by police and the dog squad shortly after. Among those charged is a 21-year-old man from Inala facing eight offenses, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He is scheduled to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 10. Additionally, a 14-year-old from Acacia Ridge and a 13-year-old from Stafford have been charged with related offenses and are expected in court later this month. Operation Grimlock continues to be an essential part of the police’s strategy to combat crime in the region, as authorities encourage the public to report any information anonymously via Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
