A serious traffic collision involving three vehicles occurred in South Maclean, Queensland, on the evening of August 9. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is appealing for witnesses as the Forensic Crash Unit investigates the incident.

The crash took place at approximately 8 pm when a white Ford Falcon traveling south on Teviot Road entered an intersection and collided with a grey Hyundai i30, turning onto Cusack Lane, and a silver Mazda 2 heading north. The driver of the Hyundai i30, a woman in her 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital. Meanwhile, the passenger in the Hyundai, along with the five occupants of the Ford Falcon and two occupants of the Mazda 2, sustained minor injuries.

Police are examining whether speed played a role in the crash and have urged any witnesses, especially those with relevant dashcam footage, to come forward. The QPS remains committed to reducing road fatalities and highlights the importance of avoiding the ‘Fatal Five’ driving behaviors: speeding, impaired driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distraction.

For those with information, the police can be contacted via Policelink or Crime Stoppers. The QPS emphasizes that road safety is a shared responsibility and encourages the public to stay informed and vigilant to prevent further incidents.
