Water Police in Queensland have issued a call for information following the sinking of an 8-meter sailing vessel off the coast of Port Douglas on July 26, 2025. The boat, which was discovered submerged halfway between Low Island and Batt Reef, appears to have had no occupants at the time of the incident.

Authorities suspect the vessel may have been recently sold online, prompting an appeal to any previous or current owners to come forward and confirm their safety. The Queensland Police Service released images of the boat’s make and model in hopes of gathering leads from the public.

The investigation continues as police urge anyone who recognizes the vessel or has relevant information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers. Both organizations are facilitating anonymous tips and are available 24/7 to assist in resolving the mystery surrounding the sunken vessel.
