Three individuals have been charged following an armed robbery incident in Cardwell on the evening of July 26. Queensland Police Service reported that the suspects approached a white Hyundai Accent at a rest stop on the Bruce Highway. The accused, a 27-year-old woman from Ayr, a 26-year-old man from Rasmussen, and a 17-year-old boy also from Rasmussen, allegedly threatened an 18-year-old German tourist with a firearm, demanding his keys, wallet, and phone. The tourist complied and subsequently informed the police. A coordinated police operation led to the swift apprehension of the suspects as they entered Townsville. The Queensland Tactical Crime Squad, Dog Squad, and Polair were involved in the arrest. The adult suspects face two counts of armed robbery in company and are scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on July 28. The 17-year-old is set to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on the same day. Queensland Police continue to investigate the incident.
