The incident reportedly occurred overnight on July 23, at approximately 9:15 p.m., prompting emergency services to rush to the intersection of Gympie Street and the Bruce Highway following reports of a physical altercation.

Upon their arrival, authorities discovered the Mount Perry resident with serious head injuries. The victim was initially taken to Hervey Bay Hospital but was later airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital due to the severity of his condition.
